Which calendar should I use for the Up-to-date Calendar?

The choice of Up-to-Date calendar is very important here. If you wish to take advantage of the benefits offered by entering your reservations directly, then choose MyVRZone. If you wish to use an existing HomeAwayConnect (previously Rentors.org) calendar as the Up-to-Date calendar calendar then choose HomeAwayConnect (Rentors.org).

Implications of using MyVRzone as your up-to-date calendar.

  • View/print out a simple check-in/out reports and track advertiser/referral performance
  • Set up auto-synchronization to other supported calendars
  • Calendars can show pending reservations
  • Track Tentative, Pending & Confirmed reservations
  • Each reservation has a notes field for related information
  • Associate Guest Feedback with each reservation
  • Your calendar will show reservation information when moused-over and a click will take you to the reservation for easy updates
  • You can keep and review your past booking information

Implications of using HomeAwayConnect (Rentors.org) as your up-to-date calendar.

  • HomeAwayConnect (Rentors.org) is obviously no longer an advertiser-independent calendar provider - providing links to other services from the calendar page. (MyVRZone's calendars are truly independent and prettier so why not embed/link to them instead?)
  • If you have many properties with many reservations then this will be quicker to set up
  • Each of your properties MUST be specified with their own HomeAwayConnect calendar Display ID
  • Any issues or changes at HomeAwayConnect may prevent the automatic update. If this happens, the data from the last successful synchronization will still remain

Each of your properties must have their calendar Display/Update ID's set as appropriate in the Setup->Advertisers->Synchronization Tab for synchronization to occur.

If HomeAwayConnect (Rentors.org) is your up-to-date calendar then it will not be overwritten and no login information is required - just the calendar Display ID. Otherwise, MyVRzone will be the up-to-date calendar and reservations entered directly on the Reservations page will be used to update all of the configured Advertiser sites. Note that this menu option is not shown unless you are using MyVRzone as your up-to-date calendar.
